For family caregivers

You're the roster, the pharmacy run and the night shift.

In a lot of Brampton households the care plan is one person: an adult child working full-time in Springdale or Mount Pleasant while running a parent’s medications, meals and appointments. It works until it doesn’t — and it stops working suddenly, usually the week you get sick yourself.

Respite means a trained caregiver takes the shift while you step away without the guilt spiral. A lead caregiver learns the routine you built and writes down what happened. A trained backup knows the plan too, so your break doesn’t cancel when availability changes.

Take an afternoon, a weekend, or the two weeks in India you’ve postponed three times. The care holds while you’re gone.

Your options, honestly

Every respite option in Brampton, including the free ones.

We’d rather you pick the right break than pick us by default.

Brampton families have more respite routes than most realize. Ontario Health atHome may provide publicly funded caregiver-relief hours. Peel Manor’s Seniors Health and Wellness Village runs an overnight respite centre — 8 beds, 7-day minimum stay, about $82 a day, booked 6 to 8 weeks ahead. And private in-home respite, ours or anyone’s, covers the hours those programs can’t reach: evenings, weekends, short notice, and stretches shorter than a week.

Most families end up layering them: public hours where they exist, in-home respite for the gaps. On the free call we’ll map all of it with you, including the options that don’t pay us anything. Check what may be covered →

Brampton respite questions

What family caregivers ask us.

Often within 24 hours. Scheduled breaks are ideal, but plenty of Brampton families call us the week everything falls apart — a caregiver down with the flu, a work trip, a surgery date. Short notice is normal here, not an inconvenience.
Peel Manor's Seniors Health and Wellness Village offers overnight respite stays — 8 beds, a 7-day minimum, about $82 a day, usually booked 6 to 8 weeks ahead. In-home respite means our caregiver comes to your parent's home for the hours you choose, with no minimum stay and a much faster start. Both are legitimate answers; on the free call we'll tell you honestly which fits, even when the answer isn't us.
Yes — that's the version that actually saves family caregivers. A fixed weekly block with a lead caregiver and a trained backup, so your parent gets a familiar face and you get hours you can plan a life around.
It may. Ontario Health atHome can provide caregiver-relief hours alongside private care, extended health benefits may contribute, and HCAI or WSIB may cover qualifying care. When approved, we bill the program directly. We check every route on the free call.
